The darkside of social media....

So today I was exposed to the underbelly of social networking. Ok I’m being dramatic…a little, but oh well. Like seriously, why are you reaching out to me on Facebook to get to a number of a “friend” of mine? Who does that?! We don’t speak, the last time I spoke to you was at our highschool graduation….which was ions ago, so why am I receiving notes from you on Facebook asking me for a friend number?

Granted I get facebook, I loved facebook at first, I truly did. I told you about my facebook stalking experience and the wedding debacle the other night. So I get how facebook allows you to reconnect with “old” friends and acquaintances, I get it. But just because we’re Facebook friends does not give you the right to the following:

1. Asking for friends numbers

2. Asking me for a job (when clearly I’m searching for one myself)

3. Asking to borrow money because we’re family (no, no and no)

4. Flooding my inbox with party invites

5. And random friend requests from questionable parties

This is why my account is private and I am picky with whom I befriend. Maybe I should re-evaluate my friend list and “de-friend” those who fall within one of these categories. Done and done. Am I wrong? What do you think?
