Why is social media important to your brand?
So you have a brand and you are making loads of money, last time you were presented with your Brand Awareness figures your agency told you that they were growing steadily each year.
Why does your brand need to use social media?? Things are going fine, just the way they are.
Imagine if your agency came to you and said that your brand awareness was growing in leaps and bounds and then the next day your accountant came to you and said that you had doubled your profit in the last financial year. I think most business owners and marketers would like that!?! Well social media has the potential to propel your brand out to the masses. It is important for your brand to be apart of social media because that is where the rest of the world is communicating!
Please tell me more…..
Did you know that Facebook has more than two million users? That is a lot of people that your brand could be communicating with. How many of your friends and family have a Facebook account? All of mine do… the only person that I can think of that is not a Facebook member is my 85 year old Nan. Everyone is doing it and you would be surprised how many people from the older generations (according to socialnomics the 55-65 year old age group is growing at the fastest rate) are getting on board as well.
So why should my brand get on board?
Well you shouldn’t just get on board because everyone else is doing it! That isn’t a good enough reason. Your consumers are communicating with each other on social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter. By you getting on board it provides you with a place where you can communicate with them as well. Instead of only reaching the people that see your advertisement during Rove or read The Daily Telegraph you can reach all of your loyal fans who have chosen to be your fan on Facebook or follow you on Twitter. The best thing about social media is that it encourages people to share the things they like so your fans and followers will be recommending that their friends “check out this brand, they are the greatest”.
Before you know it… your brand awareness will be sky rocketing and your accountant will be your new best friend!
